This is one of the worst injuries in school boy rugby, as the commentators say.
In a match between Grey College (Bloemfontein) vs Grey High (Port Elizabeth), the Bloemfontein lock, Martin Groenewald suffered a shocking injury to his knee, breaking his tibia and fibula.
Rugby Dump reported that Groenewald had signed a contarct with the Blue Bulls for when he left high school. He has had surgery and apparently is in the clear. Although he will need close to half a year of rehabilitation.
The footage is so shocking that after seeing the initial break and his team mates and opponents showing a deep shock at the incident the camera stays away from the injury.
The match ended in Grey Bloem’s favour with a the 50-28 victory.

It was clear for all to see, and apparently hear, as the referee stopped the match instantly and players from both sides turned away in shock after realising what had happened.
